The Developing Performance Goals and Standards course is a management and supervisory training course. This 4-hour course teaches participants how to write specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound (S.M.A.R.T.) performance standards. Published by Vital Learning, Developing Performance Goals and Standards begins with an introduction to the importance of planning and the effect of fuzzy performance standards. Participants then learn the process of writing S.M.A.R.T. performance standards and practice the concepts by developing performance goals and standards in various scenarios. The course concludes with a discussion of how to reinforce the skills learned in the course and how to apply them on the job.

Participants will engage in activities and exercises to ensure that they have learned the key concepts that are taught during the course. This course is a single module of the 12-module management training series called The Leadership Essentials Series.
