Most organizations are shaped like a giant pyramid. Strategy and organizational changes start from the executive leaders who reside at the tip of the pyramid.
However, the folks at the other end are the bulk of your organization’s pyramid. This group will either help the change succeed, or they will create such resistance that it will fail. You can visualize how easy it is for that number of people to gain momentum for one direction or the other.
Vital Learning’s Supporting Change course will help supervisors realize that resistance is normal and it is on the path to accepting the change. Team leaders practice having change conversations and working with resistance while developing the skills that will help their teams embrace change.
This course starts by teaching managers how to identify most of the common reactions to change, and then to learn how the reactions naturally move from resistance to acceptance. Then, participants are introduced to strategies on how managers can help move their employees from being resistant to change to accepting organizational changes. The course balances instruction with active skill practice. Leaders will be required to showcase how to use the skills and processes that they are learning.
- Understand the phases of change and what to expect in each phase.
- Identify the common reactions to change and strategies to best handle each type of reaction.
- Involve team members in the change initiative by promoting their understanding and ownership of the change and its benefits.
- Ensure that you have addressed team member concerns, questions, and reactions to change.
- Use the Supporting Change Skill Points to plan and conduct a meeting with your team member.
